Waratte Project (The Smile Project)

'Tanpopo-No-Ye' (House of Dandelion) and our network are organizing a support group for people affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake. We are asking for your support and participation. |
We have created this umbrella project 'waratte project' to support those who have been affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake. We are organizing events to help the recovery of people's lives in connection with other affiliated groups and people, focusing on people living in isolated areas that require support using the combination of the three projects. There are several 'special need' minority groups, who particularly need our help. We would like the co-operation of domestic and overseas NPO's, who can sympathize with 'Tanpopo-No-Ye' and our mission. With everyone's participation, we can improve people's lives that were so terribly affected by the major disaster in March.

The Taiyo Project
With the power of art created by people with disabilities, supporting those affected by the disaster in March, particularly for people with special needs, helping to provide meaningful employment.
'Taiyo' means, the Sun and the Ocean. The Sun and the Ocean are critical for all our existence and the basic support of life on our planet. Able Art Company artists have been producing works to give hope and enjoyment to others. These same artists all members of Able Art groups want to help generate work for their fellow countrymen having lost jobs in the Great East Japan Earthquake.
The Taiyo project has had a fantastic response across Japan. Despite limited retail resources using a mobile unit, we now want to promote this project further and gain support from the rest of the world. We will be developing the products for the welfare facilities, redesigning the packaging, support for the art gallery, co-ordination of the professional support and to find new retail opportunities

The Power of Word Project
This project is aimed at mental health support for survivors of the Great East Japan Earthquake using power of the stories and poems created by people with disabilities.
In the present day the power of language has been diminished. This project is focusing on revitalizing the power of the word.
Creative communication using 'word' can help produce a strong bond between people and enriching everyone's lives.
The Wataboshi Music Festival was started in 1976 to give people with disabilities the chance to create their own music, stories and poems. Their performances have encouraged and inspired not just themselves but also the people attending the festivals because of the 'power of the word'.
The authors of the stories and poems, wanted to convey a message of hope and determination. This is why the 'The Power of Word Project' will publish these stories and poems in a book and send it to people affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

Children's Leisure Time Project
Supporting children with disabilities from the Great East Japan Earthquake affected area.
10 years ago, Tanpopo-No-Ye (House of Dandelion) was created as a support center for children with disabilities giving them a place to go other than school or home.
Following the Great East Japan Earthquake, Tanpopo-No-Ye concerned for the children in the Earthquake and Tsunami hit area started working with the local 'Adventure Club', developing a similar support system.
One of the consequences of the earthquake was to seriously reduce the very important leisure and play time for the children.
The center is now creating an experience for the children and their families allowing them to share some fun and laughter once again, helping to improve their life.
